This DIY Father’s Day Handprint Keychain is super easy and makes a perfect homemade gift your Dad can keep with him forever!
- Crystal Clear Shrinky Dink Sheets (you can pick these up at any craft store)
- Craft Paint
- Hole punch
- Jump Rings
- Split Ring Keyring
- Parchment Paper
- Mod Podge (you can pick this up at any craft store)
Step 1: Paint hand and press onto the shrinky dink sheet. If you make a mistake, just wipe it with a paper towel and try again!
Step 2: Once fully dry, flip over on the non-painted side and write name and age with a sharpie.
Step 3: Cut out the handprints leaving about 1/4 inch around the sides of the paint and hole punch at the tip of the hand in between the ring and middle finger. The hole will shrink to jump ring size to fit the handprint keychain.
Step 4: Flip back over to painted side up and bake on cookie sheet with parchment paper at 325 degrees for about 2 minutes.
Make sure to keep an eye on it while baking. It will start to curl in but then flatten again. When you see it has stopped moving, take it out and flatten it if needed with a spatula.
Note-my daughter’s hand took longer to bake while my son’s hand (bigger) took only 1 minute.
Step 5: Use a plier to pull the jump ring apart and loop through hole in handprint. Then loop through keyring. You can use mod podge to seal the paint.
Step 6: Put the handprints through the keyring to finish your handprint keychain for Dad!
Now wrap your DIY Father’s Day Handprint Keychain and you are all set to give your Dad a great suprise!
