Under the Sea Smoothie 2 Ways!

These Under the Sea Smoothie Bowls and Parfaits are not only beautiful but super tasty and nutritious! This smoothie recipe 2 ways makes the perfect summer breakfast treat for all ages!

1. Under the Sea Smoothie Bowl

Materials:

Ingredients:

For the Smoothie Base:

  • 2 frozen bananas (be sure to peel the bananas before freezing)
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1 handful frozen pineapple
  • ½ cup coconut milk (can substitute with milk of choice)
  • ½ tsp Spirulina Powder

For the Chocolate Seashells:

Step 1: Place chocolate wafers in a microwavable bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds on low-medium heat (Power Level 50). Stir the chocolate wafers and microwave as needed for 15 seconds on low-medium heat until chocolate is melted.

Step 2: Pour the melted chocolate into a ziplock plastic bag, moving the chocolate towards one corner of the bag. Use your scissor and cut a small hole in that corner to create a piping bag.

Step 3: Squeeze the chocolate into the mold carefully. Once the mold is mostly filled, pick up the mold and lightly tap against the table. This will allow the chocolate to spread out and fill the small designs in the mold.

Step 4: Once all the molds are filled, put aside to set. You can also put in the refrigerator to speed up the process.

For the Toppings:

Step 1: Rinse blueberries and kiwi and set blueberries aside.

Step 2: Dice kiwi and slice bananas into thin slices.

Step 3: Set toppings aside until ready for use.

For the Under the Sea Smoothie Bowl Base:

Combine frozen bananas, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, coconut milk, and spirulina powder into blender.

Blend until smooth. Add coconut milk as needed if the ingredients are not blending. Add additional spirulina powder as needed to get to the blue color desired.

Make sure the smoothie is thick to ensure the toppings do not sink.

Assembly:

Step 1: Pour the smoothie into your bowl and using a spoon, smooth out so that the smoothie is flat.

Step 2: Sprinkle the shredded coconut on half of the bowl.

Step 3: On the side with the shredded coconut, carefully arrange the bananas slices along the edges of the bowl.

Step 4: Carefully arrange the chocolate seashells, blueberries, and kiwi as desired.

Step 5: Sprinkle the quinoa pops to finish.

2. Under the Sea Smoothie Parfait

You can reuse most of the ingredients and materials from the Under the Sea Smoothie bowl for the parfait!

Materials:

  • Shell chocolate molds
  • Microwavable bowl
  • Ziplock Plastic Bag
  • Scissor
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife
  • Blender
  • Glass for smoothie

Ingredients:

For the Smoothie Layer:

  • 2 frozen bananas (be sure to peel the bananas before freezing)
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1 handful frozen pineapple
  • ½ cup coconut milk (can substitute with milk of choice)
  • 1 tsp Spirulina Powder

For the Yogurt Layer:

  • Your favorite yogurt

For the Toppings:

  • White chocolate wafers/melting chocolates
  • Kiwi
  • Mango
  • Quinoa Pops (can substitute with Rice Krispies)

How to:

For the Chocolate Seashells:

You can use any leftover chocolate seashells from the Under the Sea Smoothie Bowl, or refer to the “For the Chocolate Shells” how-to above!

For the Toppings:

Step 1: Rinse kiwi and mango.

Step 2: Peel kiwi and slice into thin pieces. Cut slices into fourths and trim off corners so it looks like a shell.

Step 3: Cut mango into stars. With remaining mango pieces, dice and save for future smoothies!

Step 4: Set toppings aside until ready for use.

For the Under the Smoothie Layer:

You can use any leftover smoothie from the Under the Sea Smoothie Bowl, or refer to the “For the Under the Sea Smoothie Base” how-to above!

Assembly:        

Step 1: Pour the smoothie into the glass.

Step 2: Layer the yogurt on top of the smoothie.

Step 3: To make the “sand”, press the mango and kiwi pieces against the inside of the glass. Add the quinoa pops.

Step 4: Top with the shell chocolates.
