- 1 cup water
- 2 cups strawberries
- ¾ cup sugar
Tools:
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Cutting Board
- Knife
- Blender
- Saucepan
- Mixing Bowl
- Sifter
- Mixer
- Frying pan
How to:
For the Strawberry Syrup
Step 1: Blend 2 cups of strawberries and 1 cup of water until smooth.

Step 2: In a saucepan, combine strawberry mixture and sugar and boil on medium heat until sauce is thick but pourable. Let syrup cool in the refrigerator until ready to use.

For the Pancakes:
Step 1: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth. Add in spirulina to give the desired blue color
Note: the pancakes will cook lighter than the actual batter color.

Step 2: Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over light-medium heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Cook until pancake is ready to be flipped (around 1 minute). Flip and cook on the other side (around 1 minute).
Note: If the pan is too hot the pancakes will brown.

Step 3: Repeat Step 2 until you have an awesome stack of blue Fourth of July pancakes!
For the Assembly:
Step 1: Wash the remaining strawberries and blueberries. Trim the strawberry tops and slice thinly. (I cut mine into circle slices.)

Step 2: Arrange strawberry slices in a ring on top of the pancakes. Add a dollop of whip cream or cool whip to the center of the ring. Sprinkle blueberries on top. If desired, add star sprinkles as well for decoration.
Step 3: Pour strawberry syrup over pancakes to your liking and enjoy!

Finally, enjoy your Fourth of July Pancakes! Happy 4th!
